Notice of Primary Election


NOTICE OF PRIMARY ELECTION

In accordance with provisions of the Pennsylvania Election Code, notice is hereby given to the electors of Butler County that a General Primary will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M., prevailing time, for the nomination of candidates to be elected to the following offices at the General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

The political parties eligible to file nomination petitions are the DEMOCRATIC PARTY and the REPUBLICAN PARTY.

In all of the voting districts of Butler County, nominations are to be made for the following offices: United States Senator (1), Governor (1), Lieutenant Governor (1), and Representative in Congress 16th District (1).  

For Senator in the General Assembly, Butler County voters will be in either the 21st District or 47th District. For Representative in the General Assembly, Butler County voters will be in one of the following districts: the 8th Legislative District, 11th Legislative District, 12th Legislative District, or 17th Legislative District. 

Voters of the Democratic and Republican parties will vote for the election of candidates for the following party offices and number to be elected:

All precincts in Butler County:

  • Member of the Democratic State Committee:  Vote for not more than Three (3), 1 male, 1 female and 1 either gender.
  • Member of the Republican State Committee: Vote for not more than Seven (7), 3 males, 3 females and 1 either gender.

Each individual precinct in Butler County:

  • Member of the Butler County Democratic Committee:  Vote for not more than Two (2), 1 male and 1 female.
  • Member of the Butler County Republican Committee:  Vote for not more than Two (2), 1 male and 1 female.

NOTE:  As of March 8, 2022, the district boundaries for Representative in Congress have not yet been finalized and are the subject of ongoing litigation. Likewise, the district boundaries for Senator in the General Assembly and Representative in the General Assembly do not yet have the force and effect of law.
