VA Dependency and Indemnity Compensation

If you’re the surviving spouse, child, or parent of a service member who died in the line of duty, or the survivor of a Veteran who died from a service-related injury or illness, you may be able to get a tax-free monetary benefit.

Surviving Spouse:

You may be eligible for VA benefits or compensation if you meet these requirements.

- Veteran had a service connected death, meaning the death is proven to be the result of, or related to service. 

   Note: Service Connection does NOT have to be established prior to death of this veteran.

- 100 % Service Connected for at least 10 years, OR, 5 years as long as the veteran was rated 100% within 5 years of release from active duty.

To apply for this benefit a death certificate, DD214, and marriage license are required.
